Our Story
At Zumba® Marcus Pointe Fitness Dance Plus, We began our journey (in 2012) to reach Ladies by means of a Fitness Dance program… to connect, reach fitness goals, overcome self image obstacles, de-stress from the pressures of life, lift each other up in times of need and be a place to plug into for a recharge throughout the busy weeks. Facing the journey together… striving to be the very best we can be inside and out!
Zumba® is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez during the 1990s. Zumba® is a trademark owned by Zumba® Fitness, LLC. The Brazilian pop singer Claudia Leitte has become the international ambassador to Zumba® Fitness.
How did Zumba begin? Here’s a word from founder Beto Perez
*”Hello, I’m Beto! I began my career as a fitness instructor in my home city of Cali, Colombia.
One day, I arrived to teach a class and realized I left my regular aerobics music at home. I looked in my bag, took out some salsa and merengue tapes, popped them into the sound system, and taught the first–ever Zumba® class.
After a career as a trainer and choreographer in Colombia, I decided to make the big move to the United States. With only my moves and my passion, I sold all my belongings and moved to Miami in search of the American Dream.
Today, I’m spreading the Zumba® love all over the world.” ( *quote from Beto’s Zumba® home page: https: //www. zumba.com /en-US/ profile/beto-perez/684
ZUMBA® is designed for all levels and ages …it involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton, cumbia, pop and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included.
*How is Zumba® good for you?
Zumba® involves both fast and slow dancing, so it works like interval training. Zumba® works your whole body, helping tone every muscle group, particularly your back and abdominal. The dance moves may also improve your posture, balance and flexibility. (*answer from google questions: How is Zumba® good for you?)
